FAQs

"DO I NEED PLANNING?"
If you click back to the home page please view the guidelines on planning permission.
"DO I NEED BUILDING REGS?"
Buildings over 30 sq. metres may require building regs. Our buildings pass building control, and we can supply you a copy of the calculations that we have to assist any application that you may be submitting. To obtain an AA fire rating to the roof, you will require our Felt Tile finish, and to obtain half hour fire resistance to the outside walls you will need to coat the building with Envirograf ES/VFR/C treatment.
"HOW LONG ARE YOU ON SITE?"
Mostly just a single day – larger 4/5 bay garages can take two days
"WHAT DOES THE PLYWOOD DO?"
The plywood lining is WBP grade and stiffens the framework of the building. Internally it improves the look of the garage, and coupled with the timber cladding, it provides a very efficient double skin
"WHY IS FEATHER EDGE MORE EXPENSIVE?"
Our Feather Edge timber is a lot thicker than you would see on fence panels, and consequently it is a lot heavier and more time consuming to work with. Additionally it has a slightly different construction method to shiplap.
"WHAT IS ONDULINE?"
Onduline is felt and bitumen compressed into a corrugated profile, and offers excellent durability especially in windy locations. The standard colour is Black, however Brown, Red and Green are all available as options.
"WHAT ARE FELT TILES AND HOW ARE THEY FITTED?"
The felt tiles are a 1m wide sheet and have 4 tiles within the profile. The tiles are fitted onto underfelt, which completely covers the OSB boarding. Only half of the sheet is displayed as it is covered by the upper level, hence 3 layers of roofing material cover the OSB. The edges are finished with a finishing trim, as is the ridge line. Our Felt Tiles have an AA fire rating and are therefore suitable for building control. Colours available are brown and grey.
"IS GUTTERING INCLUDED?"
Yes – Black or Brown
"WHAT ABOUT THE BASE?"
The customer will be required to have a base ready for the building, consisting of hardcore, concrete and a brick course. For more details click the groundwork button on the homepage.
"DO YOU SUPPLY A DPC ON THE BRICK COURSE?"
Yes – this is built into the bottom of the section. The customer does not need to provide this
"DELIVERY TIME FROM ORDER?"
Usually 4-6 weeks
"WILL YOU SUPPLY DRAWINGS FOR BASE AND PLINTH?"
Yes – On receipt of the deposit
"HOW LEVEL AND SQUARE DOES THE BASE NEED TO BE?"
The base needs to be flat and level to a tolerance of + - 5mm, which is perfectly acceptable to the builders. The base needs to be bigger than the bricks by a minimum of 50mm
"CAN YOU SUPPLY DRAWINGS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES?"
We can provide you with elevations for planning permission, along with an overhead plan ready for you to submit to the local authorities.
"CAN YOU INSULATE AND LINE THE BUILDINGS?"
Yes – we can offer a price to do the roof and the walls separately. Unfortunately we don’t offer the electrics on these buildings.
"WHAT IF I NEED A TILED ROOF?"
Roof trusses are required at 600mm centres, which we supply and fit (including cladding the gable ends). You will then require a local tiler to batten and tile the roof, fit the soffits, and guttering. An alternative to this is Tapo slate – which we can supply and fit.
"CAN I HAVE ELECTRICALLY OPERATED DOORS?"
Yes – We supply the motor for double doors and Up & Over doors
"CAN I HAVE A STEEPER PITCHED ROOF?"
Our standard pitch is 20 degrees, but the maximum pitch that we can offer is 25 degrees.
"CAN I HAVE VELUX WINDOWS?"
Yes – we now offer these as an option (only available with Felt Tiles)
